Roofing SEO services: what a good roofing SEO company delivers
Good roofing SEO services cover five things every month: your Google Business Profile, a real page for each town and job, technical fixes to the site, mentions on other trusted sites, and call tracking with a clear report. A good roofing SEO company shows its work in Search Console and in counted calls, never in promises of a #1 spot.
What roofing SEO services should include
| Service | What you should see |
|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Complete details, weekly photos and posts, a review request system |
| Town and job pages | One real page per town and per job, with facts that are true for that town |
| Technical SEO | Fast pages on phones, no broken links, a sitemap, search and AI crawlers allowed |
| Mentions and links | Listings and links from real local and trade sites, never bought links |
| Call tracking | A tracked number per site or campaign, so you count calls, not clicks |
| Reporting | Search Console clicks and impressions, Maps position, calls, and what was done this month |
Red flags
- "We guarantee #1 on Google." Google's own guide to hiring an SEO says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking.
- Fake addresses or extra Google profiles for towns where you have no office. That breaks Google's rules for business profiles, and the profiles get suspended.
- Hundreds of town pages that only swap the town name. Google calls these doorway pages.
- Bought reviews or review gating. The US Federal Trade Commission banned fake reviews in 2024.
- No access for you. If you cannot log in to your own site, profile and Search Console, you do not control your business.
- Reports with only rankings. Rankings for words nobody searches are easy. Calls are what pay.
Who owns what when you stop
Ask this before you sign, and get it in writing. You should own the domain, the website files, the Google Business Profile, the Search Console account and the phone numbers. Some companies keep the site and the tracked numbers, and your calls stop when the contract ends. That can be a fair "rented" model, but only if you know it on day one.
How to judge results
New pages usually take weeks to a few months to rank. Google's own guide says SEO changes can take months to show. In the first months, look for growing impressions in Search Console and better Maps positions. After that, look for more calls from the tracked numbers. Ask for the raw Search Console numbers, not a screenshot of a chart.
10 questions to ask a roofing SEO company
- What exactly will you do each month, in hours or in pieces of work?
- Who will write the pages, and do they visit or call us for real facts?
- Will you work on our real Google Business Profile, and never make new ones?
- Who owns the domain, the site, the profile and the phone numbers if we stop?
- How do you count calls?
- Can I see a report you sent another roofer, with the name hidden?
- Where will the links and mentions come from?
- Do you allow Google and AI assistants to read the site?
- How long is the contract, and how do I end it?
- What will you not do?
